How do I make a Phantom chandelier?
I am on a small budget, but I need to make a replica of the phantom of the opera chandelier, about the size of a T.V. or a Common house hold fan. I need it to have flickering lights and it needs to be able to rise and drop with the least about of damage. :)
the real chandelier is massive, it is very intricately detailed with the finest of all Swarovski diamonds and crystals. It weighs hundreds of pounds and requires a lot of support. There are hundred of what was then state of the art electricity, there are hundreds of lights.
If it was to be constructed completely today it would cost millions. Obviously in the film and musical a cheaper one was used, they still cost hundreds of dollars.
To make a replica you would need to find some metal make sure it was fairly dark, weld it together very intricately to the design, use perhaps rhinestones instead of like the actual Swarovski crystals and diamonds. For lights you would also have to perhaps find either candles or large large bulbs and make sure they work.
But it would really need a very good support system, other wise it would actually harm the one in the middle.
That is the closest you can get for making it small and cheap.
If you have a lot of time you might want to go to the actual Garnier, it is an absolutely amazing building.
